California Cheeseburger

California Cheeseburger with SC Red Blend


8 oz ground beef 80/20
Salt and black pepper
1 large ripe tomato cut into slices
Iceberg lettuce
1 small onion, sliced
2 slices American cheese
1/4 cup mayonnaise
3 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp relish
1 sweet brioche bun
Frozen French fries (optional)


Preheat your grill to a high heat.

Divide the ground beef into two even sized balls.

Place each ball onto a piece of parchment paper, folding one half of the paper over the top of the beef.

With a pan or heavy pot, press down and smash the beef into a thin patty about 4 inches wide.

Season the top of each burger patty with salt and black pepper.

Place the burgers onto the grill and sear for at least 3 minutes on each side.

Place 1 slice of the cheese on top of each burger and turn off the grill, close and let the cheese melt.

Transfer the cooked burgers to a. Plate and cover loosely with foil.

Mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup and relish and set aside.

Slice the bun in half and toast each side over the grill.

Build your burger by spreading some of the sauce onto the bottom half of the bun.

Place a slice of tomato on top followed by some lettuce.

Add the burger patties on top.

Place some rings of onion on top of the burger and top with the bun.

Skewer the burger with a long toothpick if necessary.

Serve with French fries and ketchup if desired.
