How to make a wreath out of wine corks

December 9, 2014

Happy Holidays! Gather up those corks laying around your house and join Remy Moore, our E-Commerce & Wine Club Manager to create your very own wreath out of wine corks!

What you will need:
1 Straw wreath base (local craft store)
About 200-300* corks
Hot glue gun & replacement glue sticks
A flat surface you don’t mind getting hot glue on

*We chose to make full wreaths since we have glass doors in our tasting room and wanted guests to enjoy the wreaths from each side. If you are placing this wreath on a solid door or wall you will only need to decorate the front section since it is all you will see and it will lay nice and flat against a solid surface, a front-only wreath will only need about 200 corks.

Step one:
Tie twine around the top of the straw wreath base and make sure not to cover this piece with glue or corks during your crafting. Start by placing a small strip of hot glue on the side of a cork and place horizontally on the inside of wreath. Repeat until you have covered the whole (or front) of the entire base. See photo.

Step two:
Place 5 or 6 single corks in random directions like a compass on the wreath. Then take several corks and randomly glue them in abstract directions to work out from each of the 6 central corks. See photo.

Step three:
Add any desired embellishments (holly berries, pinecones etc., or keep it plain for a natural look) and add a bow of your desired color.

Step four:
Hang it up or give as a gift to a loved one to be enjoyed with family and friends. Store in a dry place so you can re-use it again next year!

Happy Holidays from your friends at Rodney Strong Vineyards!
