The 2010 vintage started with a cool and fairly wet spring at Brothers Ridge. Late rains generated a larger than typical canopy that required careful management, but nothing too out of the ordinary thanks to Brothers steep slopes and fast draining soils. The cool spring evolved into an exceptionally cool summer, followed by a September that started out warm and got even warmer at the Brothers, promoting the kind of complete physiological ripeness we look for there. Finally, we waited out a five day hot spell that ended on October 14th, and began harvesting block 1 and 5 the very next day, adding block 8 on the 18th, and finishing with block 4 on the morning of the 20th , as dawn temperatures dipped deep into the 40s.
