Bold, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon with juicy red and black fruit character, and an elegantly round and seductive mid-palate.
At Rockaway, the 2010 vintage started with a cool and fairly wet spring like the rest of the Alexander Valley. Late rains threatened to generate a large canopy, and required careful management to avoid cluster shading within the canopy. The cool spring evolved into an exceptionally cool summer, with a three day heat spike in August, followed by a September that started out warm and stayed warm at Rockaway, getting fruit ripening kicked into high gear. We harvested Cabernet blocks 1, 7 and 2, along with some Malbec and Petit Verdot on a major harvest day, October 21st. The cooler but exceptional Cabernet from block 8 was harvested on October 27th as chilly morning temperatures dropped into the 30s, signaling the end of the season for an exceptional vintage.
“94 points - Exhibits gorgeous dark berry flavors in a big yet graceful style, turning elegant and supple on the finish, where touches of spice, mocha and light oak come into play. Drink now through 2026. J.L. ”

“93 points - There's a thick chocolate and blackberry-jam richness to this Cabernet that makes it delicious already. It's blended with a little Malbec and Petit Verdot, and boasts good structural integrity and ample grape tannins, while new French oak lends wood tannins and a sweet smokiness. As good as it is now, you may want to lay this wine down 6-8 years, to let it express even more of a sense of terroir. ”
