Fermented over a 14 day period at moderate temperatures with pump-over’s twice daily, we aged this Pinot Noir for 14 months in French oak barrels, one third of which were new. Showing the rich color of a cool climate Pinot Noir, aromas of pomegranate, earth, raspberry and spice lead to a medium bodied wine with crisp acidity, and vibrant fruit and spice flavors that finish smooth and silky. Enjoy over the next 2-6 years.

2012 started off warm and dry, with little to no frost. By mid-summer people were beginning to whisper about how perfect the growing season was going, but not too loudly as no one wanted to jinx it! Rain-free warm days and cool nights were the rule, with no storms or heat spikes, each and every day. The real cheering began when we finally started picking the fruit, beginning on August 27th, a full sixteen days earlier than the year before, which feels like eons at harvest time. The Pinot Noir was harvested in our Sonoma Coast vineyard on September 14th and 15th.
