Perched high on a hill just west of Jimtown at the southern end of Alexander Valley, Alexander’s Crown was the first Sonoma County vineyard to be bottled as a Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted in 1971, it rises to 350 feet at its peak, with well-drained gravelly loam soils. The very pinnacle – Block 1 – has deep red soils and tends to produce the most intensely flavored fruit. The Crown expresses Cabernet in a notably Bordeaux-like style, with red fruit flavors, soft tannins and beautifully balanced acidity.
Reviews
“92+ Points - The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander’s Crown bursts from the glass with dark cherry jam, blackberries, exotic spices, flowers, grilled herbs and graphite. It boasts gorgeous depth and a rich, sumptuous personality. Higher-toned floral notes add lift and brightness on the finish. The style is decidedly on the opulent side, yet all of the elements are nicely balanced. ”

“92 Points - This is the winery’s top Cabernet. The ’09 is very ripe, rich and forward, offering powerful blackberry, cherry and currant flavors that are wrapped into soft, gentle tannins. It’s quite good, but it needs a couple of years in the bottle. ”
