Rodney Strong Vineyards Overview

Rodney Strong Vineyards was one of the first wineries in Sonoma County to vineyard-designate its wines and given our resources, that shouldn't be surprising. Today we farm just less than 1,000 acres of valley, hillside and mountain vineyards throughout Northern Sonoma County for our Sonoma County varietals, focusing on the Russian River, Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys, Chalk Hill and the Sonoma Coast appellations.

In all of our vineyards, we practice sustainable, fish-friendly farming, seeking minimal environmental impact, while maximizing grape quality by careful matching of grape variety to soil and climate.

The Appellations

Chalk Hill - where ocean fogs and chalky soils work in combination to produce unique chardonnays that exhibit crisp citrus and mineral notes along with lush floral and tropical character.

Alexander Valley - where Bordeaux varieties thrive in special soils, warm climate and the Russian River's moderating influence. Cabernet sauvignon and Merlot grown here are rich with plum and cherry flavors and soft, chocolatey tannins. Sauvignon blanc from Alexander Valley is touched with characteristics of melon, pear and lime.

Russian River Valley - one of the few growing regions that can claim the distinctive flavors it stamps on pinot noir. Hints of cherry and spice and soft, luscious textures create sensuous, memorable wines.
