River East Vineyard

Russian River Valley - 19 acres, Established 1968

Our heritage River East vineyard was a prune plum orchard when Rod Strong acquired it in 1968. He replaced the prunes with a state of the art winery and a wonderful pinot noir vineyard that today is the core of our Russian River Valley Estate Vineyards Pinot Noir. Warm air rising in the interior valleys of the north county gently pulls cool ocean air and fog deep into the Russian River valley each night. Mornings are usually cool and foggy, followed by a quick but relatively compressed warm-up in the afternoon. This cool climate combined with fairly well drained clay loam soils give these old vines the essentials necessary for the development of fine pinot noir.
