Alexander's Crown Vineyard
Alexander Valley - 66 acres, Established 1971
Rising a couple hundred feet above the Alexander Valley, "The Crown" is likely Sonoma County's best-known Cabernet vineyard and was one of California's first vineyard designated wines when it debuted following the 1974 harvest. About 66 acres are currently planted, mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with 3 acres of Merlot . The soils are predominantly well drained gravelly loam derived from both river sediments and volcanic activity. With vineyard blocks sloping in every direction except due south, the Crown delivers complexity with amazing consistency from vintage to vintage.
